In the late summer of 2021 I was heading back home to Virginia from a two-month trip in the Midwest. On the way home I had planned on meeting up with another well-known local angler for a collaboration. Unfortunately that angler had a sudden, very important matter arise. All I could do was wish him the best with his dilemma.

So for me, I had already booked a campground for a few nights in Ionia, Michigan. I figured I’d just check out the local fishes in the nearby creeks, lakes and rivers. The video tells the tale of this mini-adventure.

Oh…did I mention that I messed up my spine so bad that I’d eventually get spinal surgery?
